Why parents choose Hilaris

A preschool you can trust

In Latin, the name Hilaris means “cheerful” – and that is exactly what we try to give the youngest children every day: a sense of security, curiosity about the world and lots of joy in learning.

Safety and closeness

Small groups of no more than 16 children, cared for by two teachers – so that every little one is truly noticed.

Bilingual every day

English is with the children all day long – in play, in songs and in everyday situations, not just at the table.

An experienced team

A psychologist, a speech therapist and a special educational needs teacher are part of our on-site team, ready to support every child’s development.

Healthy eating

Five meals a day, planned together with a dietitian – tasty, healthy and with young children’s development in mind.

A wide range of activities

Music and movement, chess, coding, sensory play, dance, Spanish, German and much more – most of it included in the fees.

A natural transition to school

We are part of the Passowska educational campus, and the reception class teacher moves up with the children into Year 1 – so learning carries on in familiar surroundings.

Our groups

Four small groups, one big family

Each group has no more than 16 children and is cared for by two teachers – so the pace of learning can always be matched to each child’s age and needs.

Toddlers
2½–3 years

Little Bees

Their very first preschool. Here everything happens slowly, one step at a time – surrounded by caring teachers.

The Hilaris principle

Children go into Year 1 with their reception class teacher

This is neither a coincidence nor an exception — it is how we have worked for years. The teacher your child knows from the reception class moves up to school with the group and teaches them right through to the end of Year 3. So on the first of September, the person standing at the classroom door is a familiar face, not a stranger.

Hilaris
  • More time, a better understanding of the childFour years instead of one give a real chance to get to know a child’s strengths and needs.
  • Less stress on the first of SeptemberThe building and timetable change, but not the person the child turns to with every problem.
  • Parents don’t start from scratch eitherThe contact with the teacher, the trust and the arrangements from reception simply carry on at school.

No change of teacher

Our speciality

English that becomes a pleasure

Language learning is our passion. For almost twenty years we have been looking for methods that make English as natural a part of children’s lives as play or a favourite story.

“Follow me and I will listen to you!” — we follow the child’s interests, because it is often the child who decides what the rest of the day looks like.

Broadening horizons! Cambridge Starters

Stories, songs and multimedia

Learning through stories and characters children love.

Language in everyday life

We name places, objects and activities familiar to children in English.

The core curriculum in English

Seasons, numbers, nature – learnt in a second language too.

English theme days

Apple Day, Christmas and other occasions to immerse children in English-speaking culture.

Plays and performances

Children perform in English in front of their parents, building self-confidence.

Cambridge preparation

Child-friendly exercises to prepare for the Starters exam.

A wide range

Extracurricular activities matched to children’s interests

Beyond the Ministry of Education core curriculum and the extended Hilaris programme, every week children take part in activities that develop their interests, movement, musicality and social skills.

Frequently asked questions

Everything worth knowing before you enrol

How does settling in work at Hilaris?
We approach settling in individually – you can visit together before the first day, and your child’s time with us is extended gradually, so the change is as stress-free as possible for both child and parent.
Does my child need to know English already?
No. Children learn naturally – much as they acquire their mother tongue – through play, songs, stories and everyday situations. Children with no previous exposure to English settle in just as well.
Does the preschool cater for special diets and food allergies?
Yes. Our menu is planned with a dietitian and, with advance notice, we adapt it to your child’s individual dietary needs and allergies.
What are the preschool’s opening hours?
The preschool is open from 6:30 to 18:00, Monday to Friday. The office is open 8:00–15:00 (Wednesdays 8:00–16:00).
What happens after preschool?
Hilaris is part of the Passowska educational campus, so your child can move on smoothly to Hilaris Bilingual Primary School, in familiar surroundings and without the stress of changing schools. What’s more, children go into Year 1 with their reception class teacher, who teaches the class right through to the end of Year 3 – so the teacher has known the child for years, and the first day at school is not a leap into the deep end.
How do I enrol my child at Hilaris Preschool?
Contact the office by phone or email, book a visit to the preschool, and then submit the application form. We’ll gladly answer all your questions and guide you through the whole process step by step.

My children love going there. Interesting activities, fantastic staff and clearly visible progress in foreign languages. Highly recommended!!!

For my Olek it’s the best preschool under the sun. For me too, of course! Every day he pushes back the time I’m supposed to pick him up, and today he announced that he could actually sleep over and I don’t need to come for him at all.

Alex Sandraparent · Facebook

I recommend this place to everyone. The teachers are very warm, friendly and committed, so the little ones are always smiling and happy to go to preschool. In my opinion, a place well worth recommending.
